My husband and I went to Kona Joe's twice during our stay in Cedar Key and enjoyed it! I highly recommend the Island Blend Iced Coffee - perfect mix of special coffee blend, cream, and sugar that wasn't too sweet like some iced coffees are. The crab quiche was awesome and my husband lived his big Kahuna breakfast sandwich with an egg and cheese omelette, sausage, ham, and bacon on a kaiser roll. This is a great little spot in Cedar Key!

Just had breakfast at Kona Joe's. Delicious blue crab quiche and Belgian waffles. Great service and dog friendly too :) Perfect local restaurant.

I'm giving Kona Joe's five stars because Kona Joe should run for Mayor of this town! He was one of the nicest proprietors I've ever met-a kind man, who is very proud of his wife and her cooking and he loves dogs so much, his cafe is dog-friendly. On the day we visited, his wife made a delicious blue crab quiche that was loaded with succulent blue crab and cheese. It came with a side of fresh assorted fruit for $6.50 which was reasonable considering that crab has to be hand-picked. We took our two dogs and immediately, Joe was bringing water dishes (cut-glass, I might add-no plastic for the dogs visiting this place!) and special dog treats. We were just passing through Cedar Key on our way to another destination but because of our pleasant experience and the hospitality we received at Kona Joe's we decided to extend our stay another day. If you are looking for a quaint, breakfast spot on the water, Kona Joe's has a relaxed atmosphere and a variety of fresh foods for you to enjoy with "man's best friend." Loved it and will return again and again!

Great place for casual meal. Sit outside on the porch and enjoy your food. I had the breakfast sandwich on a hot kaiser roll and it was great. Coffee is fresh and Joe is a treat!

I'm a local and absolutely love this place :) Joe and Edie are wonderful and always make my visit enjoyable. The teriyaki chicken sandwich I have at least once a week and the Philly is also a favorite. Breakfast is available all day, and the Island blend iced coffee is great :) Stop by if you want warm, friendly service. Very small indoor seating and a few outdoor tables with a view of the back bayou and mangroves. Just a great place for a non-fried seafood place to go.

Have been to Kona Joe's twice. Great Kona coffee, and wonderful food. Great personal service. We will be in Cedar Key a month, and will visit here many more times!

Order at the counter. They serve breakfast and lunch ALL DAY! The blue crab quiche was so delicious, wish I had been served a larger slice! Drank iced coffee and ate on the porch over looking the water. Dog friendly!

Small place with homey charm, but the value per dollar is very low. The crab quiche is very tasty, but it's reheated and a very small portion for the cost.

Ate lunch here today. Small place but ample seating on the outside deck. After reading previous reviews, wife had the crab quiche that she enjoyed, saying it was very tasty. I had the steak and cheese (without extra meat). Excellent! We will definitely be back!

The World's Best Crab Cake I just had the best crab cake sandwich I have ever eaten. Made from fresh crab, locally caught, served on a toasted croissant. Enjoyed a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade while I ate on the back porch overlooking the marsh. Friendly service, big smiles by all the folks who work there. Well worth the stop. P.S.: In general, Cedar Key has fantastic, locally harvested shellfish: clams, oysters, shrimp, and crab.

Loved sitting on the patio overlooking the water. Kona Joe's is probably the friendliest service in town. All three of the coffee drinkers at the table really enjoyed their coffee. We went for breakfast and the prices are super reasonable. Next time I would like to try lunch, or drop in for a smoothie, or icecream. Note: They serve breakfast and lunch only.

Not a lot of choices for breakfast in this quiet little fishing village, this was a lucky find - and lucky for us they had just baked up a fresh crab quiche - oh boy, that surely fueled my paddle over to the historic cemetery and ruins on Atsena Otie. They do take credit cards with one of those nifty little iPad swipers.

"Stopped at Kona Joe's for breakfast before heading into Cedar Key for exploring. Edie, Joe's wife & chef was just taking a bluecrab quiche out of the oven. Three of 4 of us couldn't resist & it was incredible. The egg, bacon & cheese on kaiser roll was also said to be delicious. Nice deck overlooking water.

Took a quick weekend trip to a sleepy, quiet, island in Cedar Key. Kona Joe's was on our way out, and we opted for one last meal before heading home to Tampa. I wish we had found them on day one, because I would have gone back twice. Upon entering, we were so warmly greeted (which was a change from our breakfast the previous day at another spot...seperate review to follow), and our server was quick to tell us that their blue crab quiche was famous. I of course had to order that for breakfast! My husband opted for shrimp and grits. My quiche was so creamy, and savory. Jason's shrimp and grits, a dish I usually don't care for, was also very good! The owner came out and talked to guests, and I just loved the warm welcome, and you could not beat the view. If you're ever in Cedar Key, you must stop at Kona Joe's!

Cedar Key has desperately needed a place like this for years. Located away from the bikers and touristy bustle of the Gulf-side strip, Kona Joe's is a cramped little hideout looking over a back bay. I could literally spend the entire day lounging on their back deck. Definitely a stress-relieving experience! Menu is small, but quality has historically made up for the dining options. Crab quiche and the homemade pies are works of art, and the coffee had been astonishing in consistency and quality for such a tiny seaside dive. However, I discovered some troubling changes stemming from new ownership on a recent visit. The worst offense has been replacing freshly brewed coffee with watered down liquid from a Keurig machine. K-cups at a full-time coffee shop? No thanks! But that could have been a bad day...

Kona Joes! What a treat. We LOVED this place! Coffee great, and the food was really good! The quich was just fantastic!! My new bride and I had lunch there several times and it was really good every time. Location is great, darn cute place, and inside and outside seating. In Cedar Key this is a must stop.

This is a nice comfy spot with good food. Everything we had was very good; berry waffles, cappuccino, crab quiche, even the green smoothie! The food is also a great value. The owner is quite friendly and helpful. He's also a dog lover -- Kona is his Yorkie -- so the place is dog-friendly on the covered patio. Not the usual island tourist fare, and definitely worth your time and money! And check out the canvas shop next door, too. Excellent workmanship on purses, backpacks, totes, and luggage that would wear forever.

Fast service. Inventive dishes and delicious coffee. Checking out the Island Thyme Boutique Shop is worth while when you're done with breakfast The island blend ice coffee is great and so is the blue crab quiche. YUM

A nice little cafe to stop at for breakfast or a small lunch. The people are friendly, and the outdoor patio has a nice view of the water. I really enjoyed the cheese steak sandwich (double meat, I'm hungry!) If you're starving, this may not be your place. But it's a great place for brunch on the water.

Wow, what a surprise. The Blue crab quiche is the best quiche I have ever tasted in my life. Even the iced tea is pure liquid perfection. Our little one had shrimp and grits. He ate every last bite of them, which is rare for him to do. Everything is fresh, and made by the owners. They have some wonderful homemade desserts as well. When we left we got some iced coffees for the road, nothing should taste that good. We can't figure out what they put in their iced coffees to make such a wonderful flavor. Simply put, this is counter service at its finest.

Great service, minor issue with CC and waffle machine down, dog friendly deck. Good food and crab quiche with their Datil Pepper sauce, would take a bottle for the road but CC machine is down and they have no change. Last meal in Cedar Key, a good one.

Super cute little place. We found it hard to find good food in Cedar Key but this place was a little gem. The cheesesteak was delicious, they even served it on a gluten free wrap for me. We came back again the next day for breakfast and it was just as good. Highly recommend this place.

Best place in Cedar Key. Everyone said how amazing the blue crab quiche is... Yes it is good, but not as amazing as the shrimp and grits. I've never had such great tasting, well done shrimp and grits. These grits aren't from an instant packet with a slice of cheese on top. The grits are buttery and with a nice cheese taste, that doesn't overpower the dish. The shrimp are fresh, big and cooked perfectly. Perfection! Don't go anywhere else!!
